 Welcome to a new year! Fifth grade is an exciting year filled with fun-filled activities and wondrous adventures. 

We will start our journey in Religion, where we will make our own rosary beads, learn about the Sacraments, discover God’s words in Scripture and Tradition, and understand the Lord’s prayer. 

We will then visit Math, where we will grasp hold of place values, decimals, and fractions. We will even take a dive into Geometry and graphs. 

Our journey will continue through glorious adventures in our Reading class. We will formulate plot diagrams, understand the author’s purpose, differentiate between facts and opinions, and draw conclusions based on reading concepts. 

Our next stop is Language Arts, where we will learn parts of speech and how to become better writers. 

We will then venture and explore our wonderland nation, the United States. We will learn its regions, geography, and government. 

Of course, no journey is complete without Science. Here, we will study motion, energy, and matter. In addition, we will be introduced to cells and systems. It will be amazing to see how we move and why. 

Our classroom rules are simple: “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.The second is this: You shall love your neighbor as yourself.  There is no other commandment greater than these.” ~Matthew 12:30-31
