Visitation Academy Technology for the 2017-2018 School Year!
Visitation Academy strives to stay up-to-date with the latest technologies to enhance learning in all curriculum areas!
- iPads are used in all grades with most concentration in the Pre-School through 5th Grade classrooms. Students in these classes have many hands-on opportunities to use educational apps to further enhance their learning.
- Additional Chromebook computers were purchased this year. Each Middle SChool students was assigned a ChromeBook computer to be used in their Middle School classrooms. These students will utilize G Suite for Education (formerly called Google Apps for Education). This will enable the students and faculty to work more collaboratively on projects and also enable students to access their work in school and at home. Chromebooks will also be shared by 4th adn 5th grade students this year.
- The IXL web-based program for Language Arts and Math is being utilized by students in Grades 2-8 both in school and at-home for skill building throughout the year.
- In addition to our 6 SmartBoards, 3 Promethean ActivPanels were purchased that will be used in the PreSchool through Grade 8 areas.
Smart Boards and Promethean Panels
These award-winning products help teachers bring more collaboration and interactivity into the classroom. Because these products are so easy to use, teachers can quickly incorporate them into their teaching to transform student learning and increase engagement.
Many thanks to our generous Angels who have provided us with technology funding this year! Thanks to the HSA who provided us with Chromebooks for the entire Middle School and the Chromebokos being shared by 4th and 5th grades. A special thank you to Mr. Hansraj who generously donated additional mobile device storage carts.
Visitation Academy strives to maintain the most up to date technology for our students by researching grant opportunities and company involvements. Please contact me if you have any suggestions or opportunities we can look into.
A recycling box has been set up in the Computer Lab through Evolve Recycling. They recycle printer cartridges and small electronics. Below is the link and information.
Please feel free to bring in your used, small electronics for recycling http://www.evolverecycling.com/Default.aspx
Evolve Recycling pays organizations cash for depleted ink and toner cartridges, used cell phones, and other small electronics. Evolve then re-manufactures or recycles those unused assets – keeping millions of pounds of waste out of landfills each year.
